In 1997 her manager Lou Pearlman originally wanted to put her in a girl group called “Innosense” but her mother Lynne asked Larry Rudolph for his opinion. He first saw Britney in a video of her singing to Whitney Houston. He then pitched her to record labels, she was rejected by some labels and Jive was very interested in her. She sang Whitney’s “I Have Nothing” and was signed immediately. Her record contract was always with Jive, the company recently was shut down so Britney is now an artist on RCA records.
